- EHR - What is that ?
I recently did a poll on EHR usage among the healthcare community and got an impressive poll result of one (from an HR professional!), after twenty four hours of the poll going public. I took down the poll, figuring that the results would not get me anywhere fast. So what is EHR - EHR is Electronic Health Record (systems) and the companies that build such systems like Epic and Cerner, have gained acceptance over many in the medical community in the US and other countries. EHR systems hold all patient information in a digital format (compliant with HIPAA, HL7, FHIR and other formats). This includes the consultations by the patient, his / her medical conditions, the medication prescribed, risk factors...and the like. You get the idea. I have spoken with multiple Doctors, but none of them use an EHR, in this country. There is immense value add in an EHR, in finding out better treatment options, and making the patient - doctor consultation a fruitful and happy experience. We at DOCCLIN go one step further and harness the data stored in such systems and convert that to dimensional models which can be utilized for crucial insights for multiple subjects - patients, diseases, treatment regime, treatment outcome,...and anything else that the user would like to perform analytics on. Data and analytics are the core behind people making good decisions based on irrefutable evidence, for the greater good of human kind.
